Organic Beauty Recipes for the Hair

Note: On one of my short blogs, I have shared a single recipe for the hair and now with this new article, I am sharing a couple. So find out more, Lovelies.

They say that your hair is your crowning glory. Well, that’s a fact. A healthy, shiny and soft hair can be very attractive. It adds confidence to a person, especially to my ladies out there.

With several hair products, most of them are very enticing to use, you do not know what to choose. But the common denominator from all of these products is CHEMICALS. Yes, all hair products out if the market have chemicals. Even if they say it is gentle to your hair. It is not! Chemicals are chemicals.

In the long run, chemicals can damage your hair. So what’s the best alternative? Create your own hair product. There are several organic ingredients to use for your home-made hair products.

For this first recipe, it can be used for dandruff, fragile and/or hair loss:

Ingredients to use:

  • ½ cup liquid castile soap
  • ¼ cup canned coconut milk
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tbsp vitamin E oil
  • 2 tbsp fractionated coconut oil
  • 40-50 drops of essential oils

Before we proceed with the directions, for the essential oils, you may choose one essential oil to use but you may want to check tips below for better results:

  • For dandruff: 10 drops each lemon, lavender, rosemary and melameuca essential oils.
  • For fragile hair: 20 drops of clary sage, 15 drops of wild orange and 15 drops of lavender essential oils
  • For hair loss: 10 drops each peppermint, rosemary, lavender and cedarwood essential oils

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a container (you may choose any squeeze bottle you like). Make sure to put on the lid before shaking. Anytime you will use it, shake it first. Use it like how you normally use a commercial shampoo.

For Curly and Oily Hair:

Ingredients to use:

  • ½ cup organic cornstarch
  • 3-4 drops of essential oil (anything you like)
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon (this is for people with red hair)
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (this is for people with darker hair)

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients in a container like Mason jar or what not. Apply your home-made dry shampoo at the roots of your hair. Use a comb to separate sections of your hair. Put the mixture and massage it into the surrounding hair. Let it sit for about 2 minutes to absorb all the oil. After 2 minutes, brush the dry shampoo until it’s gone.

This recipe may not replace your normal daily hair routine but it can help you an extra day or two. You know what I mean.

For restoring scalp’s pH balance:

Ingredients to use:

  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 1 ¾ cups pure aloe vera gel
  • 5-10 drops essential oils (this is optional)
  • 3-4 drops of Vitamin E oil or jojoba oil or sweet almond oil (for dry hair)

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl using a whisk. Put the mixture in an ice-cube tray, then put it in the freezer and wait until it is completely frozen. You may use the whole cube depending on your hair length or if you use half of the cube, you may put it back for your next use.

There are several ways to make your own hair product inexpensively and chemical-free. Recently, there’s this craze about Castor Oil, which helps in hair growth. I’ll do another article for this after I make my own research. I hope you enjoy our Pinay Time, Lovelies 🙂 ❤

SHORT BLOG: Natural Hair Product

Most hair products being advertised today contain “Sodium Lauryl Sulphate,” which is an active ingredient of detergent; so imagine yourself using those products same as using Tide or any detergent powder available. In addition to that, there are several types of hair products (such as hair spa treatment, hair dye, conditioner, hair moisturizer) with just a single-functionality; thus, if you have a few hair problems, you might need to use 2 to 3 products out of the many. With regards to natural hair products, they are not only safe to use but most ingredients are multiple functionality. Take coconut oil for example, it does not only help thicken your hair but also moisturizes it, giving a lustrous look. Last but not least, most natural ingredients can be mixed altogether without damaging your hair. Unlike with synthetic products, you cannot mix them together as they might damage your hair or worst, it can cause baldness and burnt scalp.

So Lovelies, I’ve included a home-made recipe you can easily prepare. Here it is:

Ingredients to use:

1 cup of water (distilled)
½ cup of Castile soap (in liquid form)
3-4 teaspoonfuls of Avocado oil
¼ teaspoon each of these essential oils: peppermint and tea tree
1 ½ teaspoons of Vegetable Glycerin
15 drops of another pure essential oil (your pick)

Instructions:

Pour all ingredients in one container or bottle and shake the mixture properly; and you are done. Make sure to shake the bottle before every use. Massage the recipe in your scalp for two to three minutes and rinse thoroughly.

In choosing an Essential Oil, make sure you have the proper guidelines or I might post an article regarding the basic things you need to know such ass…(oops, I meant as!), what is the most effective, skin reaction, etc. If you have another recipe you’d like to share, please drop a comment or drop a link of your blog. Thanks for sharing another Pinay Time with me, Lovelies! 🙂 ❤
