Homemade Sugar Scrubs for Different Type of Skins

There is a wide array of skin problems that most people have experienced over the years.  Some of the most typical skin issues are dry skin, oiliness, and lesions. Treating these skin problems with commercialized products out in the market is a stereotypical practice for most of us. That is given because we have the propensity to be lured by the way companies advertise their products. Even if in most cases these products do not really work. Imagine the money we are spending and getting nothing from it.

As a result, people are now searching for an alternative approach in skin treatment. A method in which the end product is less chemically made, more suited with our skin types and more affordable than those products available in all local stores. This new approach focuses in using raw products that are normally found in the comforts of our home. With that being said, a specific raw product is already making its name out in the open and that is – sugar.

Who said that sugar is only good in making different concoctions? Indeed, sugar adds sweetness in our coffee and pastries but little did we know that sugar could also be used in creating our own recipes for treating the never-ending problems with our skin.

Did you know that?

Sugar is an all-natural humectant that keeps our skin hydrated and moisturized. It is also an excellent source of an Alpha Hydroxy Acid called Glycolic Acid. This type of AHA acid treats aging skin and skin that is damage by direct sunlight. Lastly, due to its small granules, sugar is a great choice for exfoliation, removing the dead skin cells from our skin and revealing the natural glow.

In order to take advantage of the several benefits of using sugar, here are some recipes you could try making at home:

Homemade Scrubs for Dry and Oily Skin

  • 4 tablespoons of Olive Oil (make use of the Extra Virgin one)
  • 3 tablespoons of regular or organic honey (any of the two will do)
  • 1 cup of regular or organic sugar (any of the two will do)

  1. Get a container with lid. If you are about to use a recycled container for this recipe, you have to make sure to wash it thoroughly. Clean all remaining residue inside the container and use a towel to dry.
  2. Pour the 4 tablespoons of your oil in the container.
  3. After the oil, pour the 3 tablespoons of honey in the container as well.
  4. Finally, add the main ingredient (sugar) into the mixture and mix it well by using a stirring rod or a chopstick.

You do not have to follow the amounts of the ingredients because you can always adjust the ratio to your liking. Store the end product in a room temperature, not in the fridge because you do not want your mixture to harden.

How to Apply:

  1. You need to rinse your face and body.
  2. Scoop some from the mixture and apply it over the face and body.
  3. Make sure to scrub it in a circular motion.
  4. Leave it for a minute before rinsing.

This recipe is advisable to individuals with dry skin, oily skin or both. For those who have a sensitive type of skin, you may use it once in a week but for the rest, you may use it twice in a week.

Homemade Scrubs for Aging Skin

  • 2 cups of white, cane or brown sugar (any of the three will do)
  • 10 tablespoons of any coffee that is readily available at home
  • ½ cup of almond oil (you may also use olive oil)
  • 2 teaspoon of each extracts (Peppermint and Vanilla)

  1. Get a container with lid. If you are about to use a recycled container for this recipe, you have to make sure to wash it thoroughly. Clean all remaining residue inside the container and use a towel to dry.
  2. Add the sugar and mix it with the preferred coffee.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients, almond oil and the extracts.
  4. Mix all the ingredients by using a spoon or a stirring rod.

If at the end, your mixture is a bit watery, add more sugar and coffee. Use the mixture same as your regular mud scrub. For those who have a sensitive type of skin, use brown sugar and do not add coffee in the recipe.

Homemade Scrubs for Sensitive but Dry Skin

  • 3 cups of brown or white sugar
  • 3 tablespoon of Ginger Extract
  • 2 tablespoon of Sunflower Oil
  • 2 tablespoon of Almond Oil

  1. Get a container with lid. If you are about to use a recycled container for this recipe, you have to make sure to wash it thoroughly. Clean all remaining residue inside the container and use a towel to dry.
  2. Put the brown or white sugar in the container.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix them well.

Use the mixture same as your regular scrub. You may use the mixture once or twice a week.

Homemade Scrubs for Normal Skin

  • 2 cups of Cane Sugar
  • ¼ cup of Sea Salt (it would be better if you will use Celtic sea salt for this)
  • ¾ cup of Coconut Oil
  • 4 tablespoonfuls of Almond Oil
  • Vitamin E extract
  • Few Drops of an Essential Oil (this is optional and pick your own scent)

  1. Get a container with lid. If you are about to use a recycled container for this recipe, you have to make sure to wash it thoroughly. Clean all remaining residue inside the container and use a towel to dry.
  2. Add the cane sugar and sea salt in the container.
  3. Add the oils as well.
  4. With the Vitamin E extract, you can put 1 teaspoon into the mixture.
  5. Add the essential oil of your choice. Then mix it well.

In using an essential oil, make sure you check the label for the concentration value because excessive use of this type of oil might have an adverse effect on your skin.

Making the most out of the raw ingredients accessible in any household has many benefits. It does not only save money but it also gives you a healthier option. It may take a while before noticing changes as your body is accustomed with chemically made products. Just wait and enjoy.

Simple yet Innovative Ways to De-clutter Your Abode

Minimal home decors and neutral colors are more appealing to the eyes rather than those homes with a lot of shelves, chairs or home accessories as it eat up a lot of space and it becomes suffocating. When you check out magazines about home styling, you’ll realize that simple styles and designs are timeless and applying this to your own home will help you out in de-cluttering your life.

People think that owning too many stuff is beneficial but the sad true is – it is NOT. There are more benefits of owning less stuff such as: fewer things to clean, you can find or search for your stuff easily and you can save a lot of money. To a few number of individuals, de-cluttering your own personal space is easier, however, when you are a self-confessed “hoarder,” this is going to be a tough time for you.

Hoarder is a person who loves to amass different things, regardless if it has a sentimental value or not, and has a difficult time in throwing them away. I will have to agree with you that this section will be a tough one for you. But no need to worry as the steps mentioned here will be in general. You do not have to decide abruptly, just take your time to read and understand the reasons behind you need to throw away other things and why you need to keep some.

You may ask yourself why? The answer is just simple. In de-cluttering your life as a whole, you should start with yourself and with your own personal space – that is, your home. Your home is a reflection of yourself; it justifies your personality and how you deal with things. So below are the 10 steps you need to consider:

Step One: The five rock-hard-minute rule. You need to take 5 minutes of your time in picturing the space you want to de-clutter first. This will lend a hand in judging what needs to be thrown away and what needs to stay. It also organizes your thoughts and coming up with a plan in a breeze.

Step Two: 365-Day Item Giving. This step is actually very insightful for hoarders. You have to remember that you do not have to be in a rush towards the way you value things; take one step at a time and do this challenge. In one year, each day you have to pick an item you need to give away; it could be as huge as an extra chair you do not use or small as a candle piece. It may seem a long process for non-hoarders but if you’ll look into a bigger perspective it has a massive transformation in return.

Step Three: One black trash bag could make a difference. Just get a trash bag and fill it with things or stuff you most likely do not need. If some of the things you put inside the trash bag can be of use, then donate it to charitable institutions. You do not only clear your own abode but you could help others at the same time.

Step Four: The ever famous Closet Hanger Try-Out. This is done by most people who single-handedly took the challenge of de-cluttering their life; but it was Oprah Winfrey who made it famous. To locate your clothing pieces which needs to be cleared out, you must hang each and every clothes you possessed (you need a lot of hangers for this trick).

Make sure you hang them in a reverse way and then after wearing each clothe, you have to return them inside your closet with hanger facing right or correct way. In the course of five to six months, you will have a clearer view of which wardrobe pieces you can thrust aside without any trouble. The closet hanger try-out or experiment could also be useful other cluttered areas around the house such as playroom, tools, linens and so forth.

Step Five: Jot a list. If the five rock-hard-minute challenge will not do the trick, then you can jot down a list of areas inside the house that need to be de-cluttered first. It would be better if you’ll start with the easiest area to de-clutter as those difficult areas will take a lot of time to organize. It may sound dull and boring in just doing a list, so here’s what you need to do next.

After finishing one area, you need to stop for the day. Look at the area you finished and the areas which are not and spot the difference. You’ll feel relax and more comfortable looking at a well-organized and simplified area than a messy one.

Step Six: The 12/12/12 Dare. You have to pick 12 things that you need to throw away, another set of 12 things you are willing to donate and a last set of 12 things you need to return to their right owner or find an owner. Imagine, in doing this challenge, it will fix 36 items in one go.

Step Seven: Put up a garage sale. You see not all items you could find inside your house are trash, sometimes, you just have too many stuff that you tend to forget you have those all along. So when you start all the steps mentioned above and if you are on a tight budget, you could put up a mini garage sale to sell the collected items.

If you do not have an extra time to put up a garage sale, then no need to worry. There are store or depot owners who buy second-hand items for cheaper price. Don’t dare to complain if they buy your items half of the original price, you should be grateful instead.

Step Eight: Play with numbers. Some people suggest practicing the Project333, where you only allowed wearing 33 wardrobe pieces in the span of 3 months. With this project, it helped them choose the clothing items they do not really need. You may also follow the same project but don’t just settle with that. Be creative and invent a project of your own and practice it in your everyday living. The vital point of playing with numbers is to face up with life and live with fewer things; and view your learnings from the challenge.

Step Nine: Be creative and imaginative. Humans are sentimental in nature. We value the things we have especially those items that were given as a gift or reward by the people who are closed to our hearts. Most hoarders feel the same way but in an excessive manner. Therefore, if giving or throwing away any item is a hurdle for you, then be creative and imaginative on how you need to live with less material things in life.

For example, you value all the shoe boxes even if the actual shoes are already worn out, then create them as storage boxes by designing the box. There are a lot of websites which could help you out with DIY (Do it Yourself) stuff. Check out Pinterest or Facebook pages to get some ideas of your own.

Step Ten: Four-box Approach. This is the most common and generic method you could use in your expedition to minimalism. All you need is to get four boxes and label them as: junk, give away, stay and reposition. Put all as in everything in the boxes (where you think it belongs); this may take few hours or even days or weeks, however, it will still help you in de-cluttering your home.

You could use two or three steps at the same time; it is all up to you but remember that de-cluttering your own home is a big step in de-cluttering you whole life. 🙂 ❤

SHORT BLOG: Uncommon Ways to Manage Stress

Yes, meditation is always mentioned in Stress Management, however, you will get to see some weird and uncommon ways to manage the level of stress you currently possess. Sometimes, adding a bit of wit, humor, and odd techniques will keep your interest in practicing such approaches every single day.

The secret behind the green nail polish

Most psychologists say that having a sight of green pigment has calming effects and could help in organizing your stress. This is one unique way in reducing stress, and all you need to do is place a dot of green nail polish to a certain thing you always bring every day. This dot will be a sort of a reminder that you need to take it slow and relax for a while.

Match your dress code with a rubber band around your wrist

Some might even laugh due to this technique’s absurdity; however, a specific psychologist named B.F. Skinner stated that punishment is employed rather than reinforcement. Try wearing a rubber band around your wrist and every single time you feel stress, snap the band. In doing so, you are hypothetically associating stress with the pinch when you snap the band. Eventually, you will subconsciously attempt to avoid the feeling. Moreover, when you avoid it, alter it with a more positive routine. Remember; always try to make it a point to incorporate the four major A’s in dealing with your stress.

Always bring chewing gum wherever you go

Chewing gum does not only freshen up your breath but it also minimizes anxiety and stress. In the year 2008, a study was led by Dr. Andrew Scholey, which tested the participants by allowing them to chew gum regularly. After a couple of months, those participants who chewed gum were established with lower anxiety level, reduced stress, and increased alertness rather than those participants who did not. So, I do not know about you, but I might as well bring a pack of Double Mints. There is no harm in trying anyway.

In view of the fact that every single person has a one of its kind reaction to stress, there is zero “one-size-fits-all” solution to dealing with it. No solitary procedure or method works for everybody. As a result, make use of the different strategies and methods. Put your focus on the things that make you feel relax and in control.

SHORT BLOG: Are You an Alpha or a Beta Male?

The alpha male opposed to the beta male discussion is an ongoing open debate for a long period of time. One of the many questions raised in this debate is if majority of the woman population like male traits that are likely to be more fostering or are they after the control inclinations and more straight or direct communication. Through this blog, we will make an effort to go over the advantages and disadvantages of each type. This is something any male can gain from both ways so might as well check it out.

Primarily, we could declare something constructive about the beta males. They have the propensity to be more affectionate and considerate and are also better listeners. However, one of the many things, which make males beta males, is being jack-of-all-trades or simply doing too much things even if it is beyond of their control. The self-assured or confident male type is capable of being affectionate and considerate except he does not drown a person in too much attention. This is the reason that makes this type of male more eye-catching to any woman. In any place you go, it is not difficult to distinguish dominate self-assured guy compared to the timid one. The weaker male is frenzied with gratifying his woman and looking for her appreciation and approval. The confident type does not have to ask for an approval from his woman or friends. For the reason that, he knows that being true to himself is the most established and mature thing to do.

What causes the alpha type of male unappealing are the identical kinds of things, which can cause him standoffish to the standard or average male; things resembling to being a typical douche who is trying to draw interest and attention to himself and being a massive sting to everybody around him. The predicament with such type of male is not the factual self-assured male for the reason that they are too certain in themselves in drawing attention by being strident and demeaning people around him. Imagine them more as the chief executive type who is calm and bold, who knows how to show no off-putting feelings such as annoyance or misery. You have to understand that such minute feelings that cause you to go nuts or displeased are beta traits. Do not get over-involved on anything dim-witted obstacles in your way. You just have to know what you must do and succeed.

In reality, most women would like to have a dominate self-assured male for the reason that this type shows the classic or typical hints of being self-supported. She knows very well that this type of person has the ability to provide, and not just whine and nitpick on how awful things are. Regardless of the era, nationality, culture or country, this woman’s standard has not changed at all. You have to prove to her that you are aware on what you are doing. In addition to that, you have to guarantee that you will be able to provide and protect her. And when you do, you are on the correct route towards becoming a true alpha male.

I’d like to hear your thoughts regarding this. Please drop a comment below to share your thoughts. Thanks, Lovelies! 🙂 ❤

Who Cares About What You Wear

A lot of people believe that image is everything and that first impressions always last. How does one normally give a good first impression? By looking good and dressing up nicely. However that does not necessarily mean buying the latest fashion designs and designer brands. I will share to you five simple steps on what you should do about this.

Step One: Know what you like and what looks good on you. I know, not everyone has an eye for fashion but “fashion” is very subjective. Don’t let others decide what looks good and what doesn’t. Just because your outfit for the day doesn’t cost a fortune doesn’t mean it doesn’t look good. Always remember the brand isn’t everything. Hermes and Armani will not change how people feel towards you. Regardless of what brand you are wearing, it always has to be the confidence that matters. This will save you a whole lot of trouble and money when it comes to choosing what to wear.

Step Two: Choose comfort over design. Of course I am not telling you that it is okay to go out in your pajamas or go out dressed like you’re at home. What I’m saying is that it is better to wear something that you will feel comfortable in even if you have to wear it the whole day than if you wear something that looks very nice but it irritates you in the long run because it makes you feel too hot or too cold.

I bet everybody would agree that corporate or business outfits are not that comfortable as your casual attire, but you do not have any option as that is the dress code ordered by your company. However, there are a lot of comfy shoes and suits available, even corporate dresses for women.

Again, always match your clothes with the event you are going to. Remember Bridget Jones going to a socialite party with her playboy costume? ( I know, I know, this movie is an old one but eh who doesn’t like this flick?) You wouldn’t like to be the laughing-stock of everybody, would you?

Step Three: Learn how to mix and match. The clothes you already have will definitely look good when you pair it with some other item in your wardrobe. You don’t need to buy a new shirt that goes with a new pair of pants every time, that will be very costly and it will take up a lot of space which is very counterproductive to what you are trying to achieve. You don’t have to own every colors of a single item just to match it with the color of your shoes or accessories.

You have to remember that for the basic clothes, stick with neutral colors like black, white, gray, brown and blue. These colors can be match with anything unlike bright colors such as orange, pink or green.

Step Four: Buy clothes that you can use for different events. There are a lot of clothes that can be used either for casual wear or semi-formal events. Take a collared shirt for example, you can pair those with shorts and you’re good to go or if you’re looking for a more formal look pair them with slacks. Again doing this will save you a lot of money and a lot of space in your closet.

Step Five: Know where to get fashion advice. If you really care about what you look like and what you wear then it is probably a good idea to look for some advice. However not everything is good advice. Some people would advise you to buy certain brands that are considered popular and of high quality but in truth it is just the brand that makes it good. That will do you no good. If you’re looking for advice just look for things like what colors match, what kinds of material are comfortable, where you can get the best deal for clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.

I’m not telling you to be cheap, rather be affordable. In the long run, it only does not save you money but it will help you minimize swiping your card to buy expensive clothes. Dress to impress doesn’t always mean designer clothes, always be wise in spending your hard-earned money. I know, I’m that repetitive. Sorry.

Homemade Deodorant With Baking Soda

Several natural ingredients you could use in creating your own homemade deodorant and antiperspirant; some are a little bit expensive and others are just sitting in your cupboard. Baking soda is a commonly use product in your kitchen and it does not only in batter mix or baking pastries but it can also be used in your own deodorant recipes.

Baking soda is a substitute product that can prevent continuous sweating in the armpit area. It can surprisingly absorb moisture making it as one of the many popular herbal with antiperspirant property.

  • 1/4 cup of baking soda
  • ¼ cup of arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • 5 tablespoonfuls of coconut oil
  • Your preferred essential oil

  1. Since we are talking about homemade recipes, it would be better if we are going to do it in an eco-friendly manner. Look for a canister or container that you are not already using. For women, this is going to be easy as you have many cosmetic containers that you do not use anymore. Wash the container and clean all the residues inside it. Dry it out with the use of a towel.
  1. Pour ¼ cup of your baking soda in the container. There is no specific baking soda that needs to be utilized in this recipe. Any brand of baking soda will do.
  1. After pouring the baking soda, add the ¼ cup of arrowroot powder. If arrowroot powder is not available, you can substitute it with cornstarch. Arrowroot is more beneficial than cornstarch because it feels more natural on your skin. Nevertheless, if you forgot to purchase arrowroot powder before making this recipe, you can always use cornstarch instead. Cornstarch can be either talc-free or not. These powders lessen the amount of sweat produced. In addition, cornstarch and arrowroot powder tames the irritating effect of baking soda.
  1. Mix the baking soda and the arrowroot powder or cornstarch very well.
  1. After mixing both ingredients, pour the five tablespoonfuls of coconut oil. Sometimes coconut oil hardens and when it does, heat it up in low fire until it is completely melted. Cool it down for two to three minutes and pour it in the mixture. Do not pour it abruptly after heating it because it will cook the baking soda or cornstarch.
  1. Lastly, pour your desired essential oil. This last step is optional but if you would like to add an essential oil, try using tea tree oil as it has an antibacterial effect. So to speak, you are not only creating an antiperspirant deodorant but it also reduces bacterial growth. You can make use of two or four essential oils, depending on your choice. However, you need to research if it is fine to mix these oils and check on the label for concentration value. The number of drops is based on the concentration rate of an essential oil.
  1. Mix all the ingredients evenly. Once you are done, close the lid and start using it after taking a bath.

Checking on all possible ingredients to make your own homemade recipe is more convenient and less harmful than buying chemically made products. Try this recipe at home and see the difference within few weeks. However, please continue reading below to know few helpful tips about homemade deodorant.

Given the fact that body odor cannot be stopped because secretion of sweat is a normal part of our body processes. It is one way of secreting the unwanted remnants in our system; but what we can control is the smell of the body odors produced. We all know that most of the deodorants and antiperspirants available in all local markets contain chemical substances that are harmful to our skin. These compounds can cause skin irritability or even allergies especially if your skin is sensitive.

bakingsoda1With the fear of damaging our skin, most homemade recipe practitioners and enthusiasts are continuously creating recipes to substitute these commercialized products. Several pros or dos come along with the homemade recipes. On the other hand, we could not deny the cons or don’ts of it as well.

The Do’s of Using Homemade Deodorant

Using all-natural deodorant that contains any of the following: lavender, tea tree oil or peppermint will prevent or reduce the growth of bacteria because these organic ingredients have certain antibacterial or antimicrobial properties.

It is indeed true that salt crystals are a no-no but it really depends on how you make use of them. These crystals are highly suggested for individuals who do not sweat a lot. To make the salt crystals work; mix it with a homemade talc powder or with another homemade deodorant.

In making your own recipes, stick with simple all-natural ingredients. Some of it can be found at your own home and others are commonly offered at your local stores. Not all of these ingredients are affordable especially if we are talking about essential oils. So always, make use of what is readily available on your end.

If you would like to use alcohol as a base ingredient of your homemade deodorant, DO NOT use Isopropyl alcohol because it is scientifically proven that it has adverse effects on your skin. Instead, try using high-proofed Ethyl alcohol.

Always check on the label of the organic ingredients you are going to use. You have to identify if the ingredient is highly concentrated or not, as it might hurt or sting when you are going to use it, specifically if your armpits are newly shaved.

Even if the ingredients are organic, not all is a match with your skin type. In order to prevent any skin irritation or damage, do a skin test first and see if there are any negative reactions.

The Don’ts of Using Homemade Deodorant

It is necessary to be patient in using homemade deodorants. Do not stop after 3 days of usage because you have to let your skin adapt to the changes. Your skin is accustomed with chemical components from the regular deodorant you have been using for years. It takes time to balance it out.

Do not apply baking soda directly to your skin; look for homemade recipes that require specific ingredients to be mixed with baking soda.

It is better to use homemade recipes for your underarm problems however these alternatives will not help unless you take a bath or apply the guidelines for proper hygiene.

De-cluttering 101: Avoid Media

You might be wondering what this has to do with living a simple and de-cluttered life. Well I’m telling you it has a lot to do with it. Everyone knows that capitalism is the ruling ideology in this world and that every establishment/company out there is only concerned about getting your money and not satisfying your needs. Media makes your life cluttered by making you want things buy things that you don’t really need and that you’ll end up forgetting about once there’s a new thing that they’re trying to get you to buy. This literally and metaphorically makes your life messier! So how do we deal with this?

Step One: Watch less TV. Of course it is still important to watch TV for certain things such as watching the news and once in a while watching some shows to relax. However one of the biggest ways of advertising is through TV commercials. You might think that these commercials are harmless and they don’t affect you in any way but don’t think too high of yourself. Companies spend millions even billions on advertising, trying to find the perfect pitch that will hook television viewers into wanting, into buying their products. You can’t change the channel every time a commercial goes on that would be too much effort. The simplest thing to do is to just watch less. Besides it won’t do you any harm to go out and do something else.

Step Two: Don’t use social media networking sites and apps. Yes using Facebook is an easy way to connect to people. Yes, checking twitter is an easy way to find out what other people are doing. Yes, checking out Instagram is an easy way to check out the recent adventures of people. But what’s wrong with just texting or calling? If you want to live a simple and de-cluttered life, stop concerning yourself with the lives of other people. You have your family and your closest friends that’s enough to get you through life and not feel so stressed about it all the time.

Think about it, what would you normally see on these social networking sites? Someone post about how they had an amazing vacation in some faraway place that you didn’t even know existed, you see someone tweet about their feelings and what song they’re emoting too, you’d see someone post a picture of what they had for breakfast or lunch or dinner. You will see a lot of things that have no use in your life but may affect your priorities and decisions. Face it; we all get a little bit jealous sometimes.

Step Three: Get yourself a hobby. If you don’t know what to replace social media with try to find a hobby. It could be anything ranging from sports, to collecting things, to building things etc. Having a hobby is a great way to help you focus and maintain balance in your life. Instead of being unproductive and doing useless things during your spare time doing something you love will give more relaxation and will make your life simpler and de-cluttered.

Personally, I find that blogging, cooking and running really help me focus and keep my life in order. They are great ways to release stress and frustrations from other things in my life. Other than that I really enjoy doing these things.

Step Four: Be more productive. Instead of bumming around in front of the computer or the television look for something to do that will de-clutter your life. One way of literally de-cluttering your life is cleaning your living space. Having clean surroundings fosters good thoughts and good ideas. It also makes you healthier so it is actually a necessity. De-cluttering your home is also simplifying your life.

Step Five: Stop idolizing other people. Envy is a very powerful thing. It can lead people to doing the most horrible of things. It certainly doesn’t do anyone any good whatsoever. So live your own life. Imagine the simple life that you’ve always wanted, stop dreaming about the lives of celebrities and stars because that is the complete opposite of what you want to achieve. Envy is also intertwined with jealousy and when these two are put together, insecurities will build up. Insecurities will just pull you back and will affect how you interact with other people. So instead of having day dreams how to be rich and famous and spend half of your day wishful thinking, snap back to reality. Remember simple is better!

SHORT BLOG: #Respect

We are going to talk about respect and woman empowerment; how this is connected with your self-esteem. It mirrors your self-worth. If you have a clear understanding with self-esteem, you would have a brief overview why respect is connected with self-esteem.

When you value yourself and you love what you have, you gain confidence and have a sense of contentment. And when you do, you know how to respect yourself and the end result, you show respect to other people. You see, respect is not being forced, it is always being earned. You cannot ask people to respect you if they see or hear things opposite of what you want. People pay their respect towards you depending on how you treat others and how you present yourself; inside and out.

If you’ll look into all social media networks, posting your “selcas” or “selfies” is quite rampant. Let us take Facebook as an example, you see women posting pictures in their bikinis or overly exposed clothes but in their caption, you’ll see the statement “respect my post.” I mean, how can you respect a person with the way they dress? Plus their provocative facial expression.

This does not mean to judge or criticize the way you dress but come on, you know for a fact that you cannot control how other people react. So might as well apply the 90/10 rule. You can only control 10% of the whole situation, meaning you can only control what you have shared. So if you want to be respected, you have to always present yourself in a proper way. And please, do not even think of commenting that example of posting picture in a bikini is a form of art because it is not.

There are also instances that no matter properly mannered you are there are always certain individuals who will disrespect you. Instead of wasting your time in explaining or preaching them about respect, do not be bothered because karma will slap them in due time.

Be sincere and considerate to others are simple ways to show your respect. When giving out your opinions, feedback or standpoint, you have to always check the choice of words you use as some words could be threatening. It does not mean that you need not to voice out your thoughts; it’s just a matter of how you deliver your message.

And last but not the least, you have to remember to pay respect to yourself; not only your body but your totality as a person. Putting others before you is an example of altruism of selflessness; it is considered a kind and sincere act and people will take you in a different light. It is self-fulfilling to actually help others but doing this over and over damages your self-respect. It is not bad to be selfish at times because if people need help from others, you also need to help yourself as well. You cannot give respect if you cannot give it to yourself first.
