Revlon. Lamer. Rimmels. FaceShop. These are just few of many companies which sell cosmetics and beauty products. But they are too expensive!
No need to worry! If you have limited budget for skin or beauty products then why don’t you just make your own? And adding the fact it’s all organic, no harmful chemicals that will damage your skin. There are home ingredients that you can use as an alternative measure for eye products. Below are some recipes which are useful.
Eye Cream. This recipe will help you tightens, reduces your under-eye circles and puffiness, firms, minimize signs of aging and repairs damaged skin.
Ingredients to use:
- ¼ cup green tea
- 1 tbsp rosehip seed oil
- 1 tbsp sweet almond oil
- ¼ tsp vitamin E
- 1 tsp emulsifying wax
- 1 drop of carrot seed essential oil
- 1/8 tsp NeoDefend (this is a type of preservative but less expensive)
- 3 drops of lavender essential oil
Directions:
Brew the green tea. While brewing, put half-way full of water into each of the two medium-sized sauce pans. In each sauce pan, put a glass bowl with a spout and turn the stove medium heat. In one of the sauce pan, add wax, vitamin E oil, sweet almond oil and your rosehip seed oil. While on the other sauce pan, add your brewed green tea and NeoDefend.
Heat both mixtures and wait until the emulsifying wax is melted completely. You may check the temperature of both mixtures with a kitchen thermometer. Please make sure that both mixtures should have the same temperature as your cream will not set. When both mixtures reach 130 degrees, pour the water mixture into the oil mixture. Mix your cream with the use of a hand-held blender.
Continue to mix your cream every 10 minutes until you see consistency. Usually it will take 30 minutes to an hour when water is no longer separating on the bottom. Add the remaining essential oils and put it in a container.
This normally makes up to 4 ounces and can be use during night and day, even under make up.
Eye Shadow
Ingredients to use:
For the base:
- Shea butter
- Arrowroot powder
You may use a combination of these:
- Turmeric
- Allspice
- Cocoa Powder
- Nutmeg
- Dried Beet Powder
Directions:
Always start with fewer amounts, around ¼ to ½ teaspoon of arrowroot powder in a bowl. Keep in mind that the more arrowroot powder you use, the lighter and subtle it gets. Add the remaining powders and mix thoroughly. Then, add ¼ to ½ teaspoon of the Shea butter. Shea butter will help keep the eye shadow on your lids and has a moisturizing effect as well. Mix it until it becomes soft and creamy powder.
Here are some color options you also want to try:
For Pale Pink, use:
- ½ tsp of arrowroot powder
- ½ tsp of dried beet powder
- 1/8 tsp of cocoa powder
For Light Brown, use:
- ½ tsp arrowroot powder
- ¾ – 1 tsp of cocoa powder
For Mauve, use:
- ½ tsp arrowroot powder
- ¾ tsp allspice
- ¾ tsp dried beet powder
- ¼ tsp cocoa powder
With all of these options, make sure to include ¼ – ½ tsp of Shea butter.
You may use different kinds of powder for the desired eye shadow color. Go and experiment on your own.
I hope this short post would be of helped especially to those who are having difficulties finding eye products that work well with your sensitive skin. Do you have any homemade eye products you use?
